TV on DVD: Doctor Who, Newsradio, and Dark Shadows

Recently Announced Discs: Serenity, Inazuman, and Columbo
Serenity [Blu-ray] There have been some interesting titles scheduled for release in the last week or so. Recently announced DVDs and Blu-ray discs of note include: Serenity [Blu-ray] - the theatrical follow up to fantastic SF show Firefly will be arriving on Blu-ray right after Christmas, on 12-28-08; JN Productions and Generation Kikaida, the Hawaii-based company that has released Kamen Rider V3 and two Kikaida season sets will release another action-packed Japanese superhero DVD boxed set Inazuman - available only through their site, it ships on 11-21-08; and Columbo: Mystery Movie Collection 1990 - everyone's favorite bumbling, but brilliant detective in more mysteries. DVD Savant: Planet of the Apes, The Last Laugh, and Blossoms in the Dust
Planet of the Apes This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Planet of the Apes [Blu-ray] - Fox's new Blu-ray does justice to the enormously popular Sci-Fi classic, and comes with a ton of extras; The Last Laugh - This Restored 2-Disc Deluxe Edition lets us see F.W. Murnau's 1924 German Expressionist classic as never before. This Week's Notable DVDs: Hellboy II, The Clone Wars, and Quo Vadis
Hellboy II: The Golden Army With the holidays approaching, there are a virtual tidal wave of new high profile movies, TV series, and boxed sets being released.
