DVD Talk's Top 20 discs of 2009 2009 saw some great movies and shows released, and DVD Talk's writers have put their heads together to come up with DVD Talk's Top 20 discs of 2009. The reviewers nominated their favorite discs, voted for their favorite 10, and this is the result. The list includes some of the biggest releases of 2009, as well as some excellent discs that didn't get as much press as they should have. One thing is for sure, you can't go wrong with any of these top-notch DVDs and Blu-ray discs. Writer Jason Bailey also selects his top 10 theatrical releases for the past year. DVD Savant: Moon, The Next Voice You Hear..., and Untamed Youth

Truly unusual sociology in Hollywood filmmaking, starring James Whitmore and Nancy Davis; and Untamed Youth - Mamie Van Doren shimmies and shakes her way through several song and dance numbers in this campy, sleazy juvenile delinquent saga. This Week's Notable DVDs: 9, A Perfect Getaway, and Glee
Shane Acker's 9 It's a little slow this week when it comes to DVD releases, but there are still a few new titles you should check out including: 9 [Blu-ray review] - an artistic film that is a thrilling adventure and also very satisfying; A Perfect Getaway [DVD review] - an entertaining B-style thriller that's elevated by a darkly comic script; and Glee, Vol. One: Road to Sectionals - the first half of the premier season of this surprise hit makes it to DVD. Other releases of note include:  Paranormal Activity, Jennifer's Body [DVD review]. New DVD Reviews: 20th Century Boys, Staten Island, and Tora-San
20th Century Boys 1: Beginning of the End The weeks following Christmas are usually pretty slow as far as DVD releases, but the writers here have managed to crank out a good number of new reviews.
