Movies in Theaters: Ghostbusters (2016) and The Neon Demon
Ghostbusters (2016) Before you head off to the cinema this weekend, check out DVD Talk's reviews of the latest releases including: Ghostbusters (2016) [a second review] - in this reboot of the franchise, the jokes don't work, the main characters aren't consistently funny, and the film has to bring in familiar faces for cameos far too often, showing a lack of confidence; and The Neon Demon - Nicolas Winding Refn's movie about an underage aspiring model is a genre-bleeding film that tiptoes along the edge of drama and suspense. Other recent films include: The BFG, The Legend of Tarzan, Finding Dory, Warcraft, Alice Through the Looking Glass, The Nice Guys, X-Men: Apocalypse (3D), Captain America: Civil War, Tale of Tales, and The Jungle Book. Check out these, and more, in DVDTalk's Theatrical Review section.

TV on DVD: The Shannara Chronicles, Game of Thrones, and The Last Panthers
The Shannara Chronicles: Season One More TV shows have made their way on to DVD and Blu-ray, and DVD Talk has got them covered. Check out our reviews of the newest TV releases including: The Shannara Chronicles: Season One - MTV's big-budget attempt to get in on the Game of Thrones this show is set in a post-apocalyptic future where technology and science have given way to a world of magic and demons; Game of Thrones: The Complete Fourth Season - this fourth season offers excellent political drama, beautiful locations, fantastic performances and exciting action; and The Last Panthers - an intriguing attempt to examine the machinations at work behind a single crime, starting with the micro and expanding gradually to the unwieldy macro. This Week's Notable Releases: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Bad Moon, and Cuba
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Some pretty cool discs have made their way to store shelves over the past couple of weeks. Check out these new titles: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - flawed but consistently entertaining, this movie receives an impressive Blu-ray package that includes a bounty of extras and the much-anticipated "Ultimate Edition" with 30 minutes of additional footage; Bad Moon - this horror film is short, but screenwriter/director Eric Red ensures that every last moment is used to maximum effect.... it also boasts one of the most outstanding looking werewolves ever captured on film; and Cuba - an underrated effort from director Richard Lester that is highly worthy of reappraisal. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

New Reviews: Ray Harryhausen, Carnival of Souls, and Panic in Needle Park
Ray Harryhausen: Special Effects Titan This week the DVD Talk Review Database has some great new entries, including a few discs you may have overlooked. Recent reviews include: Ray Harryhausen: Special Effects Titan - a loving tribute to one of the most talented and wildly influential artists in the history of cinema; Carnival of Souls - a high point in low budget American horror from the sixties, standing tall alongside other notable genre entries like Night of the Living Dead; and The Panic in Needle Park - this movie is bleak as hell, but its loose style, infused with the energy of the street, and the outstanding performances from young Al Pacino and Kitty Winn make the film intensely watchable and highly recommended. Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
