TV on DVD: Mystery Science Theater, Ninja Turtles, and Attack on Titan
Some great TV shows have made their way onto home video recently including:
Mystery Science Theater 3000: Volume XXXVIII
- there is a lot of fun to be had in this collection of four 'Mike' episodes; Tales Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Super Shredder - this reboot is now entering its fifth and final season and while the recent shift in tone doesn't always feel like a step in the right direction, it's still got some gas left in the tank; and Attack on Titan: Complete Season One - this show about angst-ridden teenagers fighting for their survival is every bit the game changer its rapid fan base claims.

Notable Releases: Silence, Blow-Up, and 20th Century Women
Several great movies and programs have come out recently, including a few that shouldn't be missed:
Silence (2016) - Martin Scorsese's film is a complex, impressive drama about Jesuit priests who travel to 17th Century Japan to find their mentor and spread the gospel at great personal risk; Blow-Up - surreal, often methodical and gorgeously filmed, this movie is undoubtedly the work of a master artist, complete with a vagueness that leaves it open for interpretation; and 20th Century Women - a thoughtful, entertaining, and nostalgic look at the changing times of the 1970's.

This week the DVD Talk Review Database has some great new entries, including a few discs you may have overlooked. Recent reviews include:
Moana - a constantly charming and heartwarming experience for the whole family… this Blu-ray with its stunning A/V presentation and bevy of extras is a must; The Smurfs - 4K Ultra HD [a second review] - a really fun film loaded with lots of fun and laughs, thanks to the Smurfs extreme personalities as conveyed by the stars that voice them; and Invisible Ghost - entertainingly goofy but also genuinely well-made for its type and budget level, Kino’s release features an excellent audio commentary and a revelatory HD transfer.
