TV on DVD: For the Love of Spock, The Americans, and The Love Boat
For the Love of Spock Some great TV shows have made their way onto home video recently including: For the Love of Spock - an entertaining and worthwhile feature about both about the iconic character and the actor who played him for nearly half a century; The Americans Season 4 - the ensemble cast continues to elevate their work and those who get increased focus deliver as well; and The Love Boat: Season Three, Volume Two - more entertaining than one might remember, this show is enjoyable fluff that is nicely executed. Notable Releases: Paterson, Three, and Chamber of Horrors
Paterson Several great movies and programs have come out recently, including a few that shouldn't be missed: Paterson - Jim Jarmusch's new film is Simple, sweet, and surprisingly magical… a warmhearted tribute to everyday creativity; Three - this movie takes its time to get going but once it does, the payoff is pretty nuts; and Chamber of Horrors - an all-sizzle, no-steak almost horror-mystery starring Leslie Banks and Lilli Palmer. New Reviews: How to Succeed in Business, Lifeboat, and Ali & Nino
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying Our reviewers have been busy this week, filling the DVD Talk Review Database more great entries. Some new reviews of note include: How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying - funny, smart, and filled with enjoyable music, this film is a lot of fun from start to finish; Lifeboat - this movie may not be the first film you think of when you hear the name ‘Hitchcock' but it's very good… the performances and the visuals are excellent across the board and Kino's Blu-ray presents the picture in great shape with some nice extra features; and Ali & Nino - a surprisingly strong feature, watch with an eye toward history and romance, knowing that the movie is simply a vehicle for both. Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
