Notable Releases: Rock Dog, The Expendables 2, and A Dog's Purpose
Several great movies and programs have come out recently, including a few that shouldn't be missed:
Rock Dog - a unique production if not an original concept, but a film that is surprisingly good; The Expendables 2 - 4K Ultra HD - sillier than its predecessor, the movie is more concerned with showing off muscled machismo, explosions and ‘so bad they're good' one-liners, but none of this is to the film's detriment; and A Dog's Purpose - the perfect kind of movie to watch with your cute dog video-obsessed grandma… it balances that fine line between a cynical attempt to tug at heartstrings and a genuine examination of why canine companionship matters so much to us.

New Reviews: From Hell It Came, The Mephisto Waltz, and Night Has Settled
Some cool discs have been reviewed over the past week. Check out these recent entries:
From Hell It Came - the very concept of the title monster leaves one's head spinning: a legendary native god fusing with a wrongly condemned man's curse matrixed with radiation to create an ornery tree man with green blood oozing from a beating external heart and with a thirst for revenge; The Mephisto Waltz - this seventies occult horror pictures is entertaining enough and it features some good acting and nice production values; and Night Has Settled - one of those movies that is simply entertaining to watch mainly because of the engaging performances by the young cast.
