Notable Releases: Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Making Contact, and Good Morning
Some pretty cool discs have made their way to store shelves over the past couple of weeks. Check out these new titles:
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter - each installment in this franchise is fun and entertaining, embracing the ridiculous absurdity of the concept while enjoying the bad-assery of its heroine, though this installment is a bit of a dud; Making Contact - an early film directed by Roland Emmerich, this is a weird mix of horror, fantasy and sci-fi clearly inspired by the eighties films of Steven Spielberg; and Good Morning: Criterion Collection - this charming and enjoyable film from director Yasujiro Ozu has no shortage of peculiar characters, memorable moments, and makes great use of the director's distinct low-angle compositions.

New Reviews: The Fortune Cookie, Baby Boom, and Woman of the Year
Our reviewers have been busy this week, filling the DVD
Talk Review Database more great entries. Some new reviews of note include:
The Fortune Cookie - director Billy Wilder's last big hit, it is remembered primarily as the first movie to team Jack Lemmon with Walter Matthau, and was nominated for four Academy Awards; Baby Boom - a wonderful showcase for Diane Keaton's comedy chops, the movie is better than you remember; and Woman of the Year - a romantic comedy drama directed by George Stevens, this is the first of many Spencer Tracy-Katharine Hepburn collaborations and remains as an essential film.
