New DVD Reviews: Roman Holiday, 10 Years of Rialto Pictures, and Warner Bros. Gangsters Collection Vol. 4
I love the holiday season - the studios always release some great films at this time of year. This year is no exception. Reviews of some of the more notable recent DVD releases include: Roman Holiday - The Centennial Collection - A timeless classic, it's funny and touching and wholly romantic; 10 Years of Rialto Pictures - With lots of European noir, a few heady classics, and even touches of comedy and personal drama, this retrospective has some of the best reissues of the last decade; and Warner Bros. Gangsters Collection Vol. 4 - A good cross-section of titles, filmmakers, and genre stars are represented in the five films: The Little Giant (1933), Kid Galahad (1937), The Amazing Dr. Clitterhouse (1938), Invisible Stripes (1939), and Larceny, Inc. (1942). Other recent reviews include: Walt Disney Treasures: The Mickey Mouse Club Presents Annette, Madame Bovary, and Roberto Rossellini .
