DVD Talk at the 49th Annual New York Film Festival
The 49th annual New York Film Festival begins tonight, and DVD Talk's own Jason Bailey is sampling from the festival's wide slate of exciting new narrative features, documentaries, and Oscar hopefuls. The opening night selection is Roman Polanski's star-studded film adaptation of the Broadway hit Carnage, a dark comedy of manners featuring Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, John C. Reilly, and Christoph Waltz. Also screening in the coming days: Martin Scoresese's masterful two-part documentary on "the quiet Beatle," George Harrison: Living in the Material World; Asghar Farhadi's fascinatingly complex Iranian morality play, A Separation; and Stefano Savona's ground-level view of the Egyptian revolution, Tahrir. You can keep track of Jason's NYFF progress via Twitter, and you can read his festival reviews in our Theatrical Reviews section.
