This Week's Notable DVDs: Chinatown, The Double Hour, and Elmo
Another banner week for DVDs with the studios releasing some great films and boxed sets such as: Chinatown [Blu-ray review] - one of the most exhilarating classics of that darker, richer, revisionist '70s American cinema that has come to be revered as Hollywood's final Golden Age; The Double Hour [DVD review] - This bendy Italian thriller is full of pulpy surprises. The script is smart, and the actors are excellent... it's a movie that deserves to be seen, talked about, debated, and passed on ; and Being Elmo: A Puppeteer's Journey [DVD review] - a thoroughly charming documentary.
Other reviews of note include War Horse, Tyrannosaur [DVD review], and We Bought a Zoo.
