Recent Reviews: Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Los Angeles Plays Itself, and Mauvais Sang
Some cool discs have been reviewed over the past week. Check out these recent entries:
Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - If you are a fan of the Tolkein films you are absolutely going to love this; Los Angeles Plays Itself - Thom Andersen's documentary consists of clips from various films that are edited together with narration to explore the evolving relationship between the American movie business and its well-known hometown... it is a masterpiece; and Mauvais Sang - writer-director Leos Carax's second feature is alternately madcap and muted, joyous and heartbreaking... a hell of a movie.
Other recent reviews include: Letter to Momo, Boy Meets Girl (1984), and Eurocrime! The Italian Cop and Gangster Films That Ruled the 70s. Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
