New Movie Reviews: Big Hero 6, Interstellar, and The Theory of Everything
Big Hero 6 Check out DVD Talk's latest reviews of movies that are in theatrical release. This week's crop includes: Big Hero 6 - a fun movie... an adventure that isn't scary, that never slows down, that is sometimes funny, sometimes dumb, but always entertaining; Interstellar - not a film that's easy to dismiss, just as it may not be entirely easy to grasp, but the sheer force of Christopher Nolan's filmmaking makes it worth grappling with all the philosophy and cosmic kookiness; and The Theory of Everything - this biopic of physicist Stephen Hawking is beautiful, well-crafted, and full of heart. Other recent films include: John Wick, Laggies, John Wick, Laggies, Force Majeure, Birdman, Fury, Dracula Untold, Gone Girl, Harmontown, A Walk Among the Tombstones, The Maze Runner, Kelly & Cal, The Drop, The Skeleton Twins, The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, The November Man . Check out these, and more, in DVDTalk's Theatrical Review section.

v This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews and articles including: Pete Kelly's Blues - A Kansas City bandleader's efforts to be free of a gangster (Edmond O'Brien) lead to violence and tragedy -- and lots of terrific music by Ray Heindorf and excellent singing interludes from Ella Fitzgerald and Peggy Lee; Man of the West - The legendary adult western by Anthony Mann stars Gary Cooper as a reformed outlaw who must pretend to rejoin his old gang of depraved cutthroats; and Under Fire - Roger Spottiswoode directs this exciting, tense tale of journalists risking their lives to get the story in 1979 Nicaragua, as the Sandinistas seize power from the corrupt Anastasio Somoza. This Week's Notable Releases: The Sopranos, The One I Love, and The Dog
The Sopranos: The Complete Series Another banner week for DVDs with the studios releasing some great films and boxed sets such as:: The Sopranos: The Complete Series [review] - HBO has finally released the complete series on Blu-ray and the generally pleasing results should satisfy fans; The One I Love [review] -a delightful shake-up of rom-com conventions that doesn't shy away from either its eeriness or complex emotional uncertainty; and The Dog [review] - a perfect stranger-than-fiction documentary about the life of a fascinating man who was equal parts narcissistic monster, passionate lover, misguided anti-culture revolutionary and unapologetic crusader for truth and happiness. Other reviews of note include: A King Family Christmas: Classic Television Specials Collection, Volume 2 [review], Land Ho! [review], and Planes Fire and Rescue [review]. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

Zavvi Limited Edition Steelbooks: Mulan, Pinocchio, and Hercules
Zavvi Limited Edition Steelbooks Looking to add some flair to your movie collection? Pick up some Zavvi Limited Edition Steelbooks. These region-free (in most cases) Blu-ray discs come in some of the most visually stunning steelbooks ever released. Each case is really a work of art, and the Blu-ray discs are top-notch too. DVD Talk reviewer Neil Lumbard had a chance to look at Zavvi's three latest releases, a trio of great Disney films, and he loved them all. Check out all three of his reviews which feature multiple pictures of the cases themselves: Mulan - a magnificent drama and musical all rolled into one... the storytelling is Disney at its finest, the songs will stay with you, and the art is of exceptionally high quality; Pinocchio - anyone looking to own Pinocchio with a classy, beautiful package should consider this a essential release, and Hercules - a stunning release with lush glossy coating, embossing on the title, and a great dynamically rich color hue that makes it stand out from the crowd of other steelbooks.
