New Reviews: The Dark Tower, Jabberwocky, and Annabelle: Creation
Some cool discs have been reviewed over the past week. Check out these recent entries:
The Dark Tower - this truncated, superficial adaptation of Stephen King's series squanders a talented cast with a stop-start narrative that neither satisfies fans nor appropriately introduces newcomers to the material; Jabberwocky: Criterion Collection - Terry Gilliam's film is a fascinating little slice of film history for the soon-to-be celebrated director… there's a certain level of enjoyment here, including a likable lead performance by Michael Palin and a substantial atmosphere that defies its extremely modest budget; and Annabelle: Creation - a worthy entry in the Conjuring universe and an improvement upon Annabelle, this sequel offers an increased mythology for the Annabelle doll and its corresponding demon and is nicely directed.
