DVD Savant: Le Ceremonie, Red Sonja and Uzumaki
This week the DVD Savant has reviews of Village of the Damned & Children of the Damned - Savant goes on an analysis orgy ... uh, gives his thoughts about this pair of well-remembered science fiction chillers, Le Cérémonie - Claude Chabrol creates one of his most disturbing character studies in this tale of class differences that lead to tragedy, Uzumaki - some very nice surrealist touches in this subtle shocker, The Tree of Wooden Clogs - Ermanno Olmi recreates an entire 19th century peasant world in this austere and work-filled recreation and Red Sonja - Brigitte Nielsen gets help from Arnold Schwarzenegger in fighting mechanical snakes and other assorted threats. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

DVD Talk Interview: Director Richard Shepard
At DVD Talk we pride ourselves in covering more than just the major releases each week. It's important to us to cover great films on DVD no matter what their box office numbers are, or even if they ever saw the inside of a theater. Perhaps that's why the work of Director Richard Shepard has caught our eye. Shepard has made a career out of blowing past the expectations people have for low-budget films. Working with several big-name actors, including Maura Tierney, Adrien Brody and Sam Rockwell, he's created engaging films like The Linguini Incident, Oxygen, and most recently Mercy. DVD Talk writer Francis Rizzo III sat down with Richard Shepard to talk to him about his films, his thoughts about DVD and The Matador a black comedy he's working on with Pierce Brosnan, Greg Kinnear, and Hope Davis. This Week's Notable DVDs (8/10-8/17)
A fantastic week for notable DVDs including: The Lost Boys [Review] - a great mix of humor and horror in a film that was a catalyst for a neo-vampire movement as well as a landmark for "The 2 Coreys", Alf: Season One - our favorite little Melmacian finally comes to dvd and he's as sharp and caustically funny as ever, Conan O'Brien 10th Anniversary Special [Review] - a great tribute to one of the most talented men of late-night TV, Best of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog [Review] - direct from the Conan show, a complete collection of all things Triumph, Predator: Special Edition [Review] - perhaps the only movie to feature 2 actor-turned-governors (Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura) and still somehow Snaggletooth manages steal the show. Finally, Kill Bill, Volume 2 [Review] - it's the 'Charles Bronsonesque' chapter of Tarantino's mega revenge flick with all the style and hoopla you'd expect.
