New Movie Reviews: Pan's Labyrinth, Miss Potter, and Perfume
Guillermo del Toro just keeps getting better with each film and his dark and sinister fairy tale, Pan's Labyrinth, is no exception. Set against the backdrop of the Spanish Civil War, the film includes some of the most beautiful (and grotesque) imagery you're likely to see in recent cinema. Wind your way through the labyrinth and discover something unexpected as Pan's Labyrinth opens this weekend. Also in theaters this week is Miss Potter - the rise of one of the most successful children's book authors of her time, Beatrix Potter; Perfume: The Story of a Murderer - Run Lola Run's Tom Tykwer tackles this adaptation of Patrick Suskind's "virtually unfilmable" international bestseller; and Breaking and Entering - Jude Law stars as a distressed young architect in Anthony Minghella's latest film. Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: Inland Empire, Black Christmas, Rocky Balboa, Letters from Iwo Jima, The Good Shepherd, Night at the Museum, We Are Marshall, Children of Men, Venus, Curse of the Golden Flower, The Painted Veil, Eragon, The Pursuit of Happyness, Charlotte's Web, The Good German, Dreamgirls. As always, we invite you to share your thoughts on films in theaters in our Movie Talk Forum Area.

TV on DVD releases continue to be a highlight in the DVD space and this week we have a ton of releases reviewed including: The West Wing - The Complete Series Collection - Television's best political drama gets one of the most complete and comprehensive reviews you've find anywhere; ER - The Complete Sixth Season - cast changeovers are often insurmountable for a long running show, but ER never skips a beat with a sixth season as strong as some of the best; Law & Order Criminal Intent - The Second Year - an intelligent series with strong characters and a very strong replay value; Stained Glass - if you've never experienced the joy of a Korean TV Dramas this is a great place to start; My Girl - another fine K- Drama that's a fun soapy melodrama with a splash of comedy. This Week's Notable DVDs: The Descent, Jackass Number Two and The Last Kiss
A strong post holiday week for DVDs including: The Descent: Original Unrated Cut [Review] - Loins Gate reverses the horrible butchering of the end of one of the best horror films to hit theaters in years, if you like horror and haven't seen this movie run out and pick it up; Jackass Number Two [Review] - the best of the best in extreme gross out humor and completely idiotic stunts, it will have you on the floor either laughing so hard you're crying or vomiting; Last Kiss [Review] - Zach Braff shows he can be just as strong in dramatic work as he can comedic in a good adaptation of an Italian musing on infidelity; The Black Dahlia [Review] - a film that struggles to meet the extremely high expectations for a film from Brian De Palma and James Ellroy. Other notable DVDs out this week include: Factotum, New Adventures of He-Man, Vol. 1 and Simple Life 4. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

New DVD Reviews: Snakes on a Plane, House of Sand and The Wicker Man
With over 18,000 DVD reviews in the DVD Talk Review Database, it's easy to overlook some of the great reviews. Recent DVD Reviews include: Snakes on a Plane - a completely goofy movie that is fun to watch if for no other reason than to see Samuel L. Jackson chew up the scenery; The House of Sand - an incredibly beautiful Brazilian film that offers a look at the plight of two women to find happiness where such does not exists; The Wicker Man: 2 Disc Collector's Edition - Anchor Bay treats this film like 'Army of Darkness' as it gets ANOTHER release, worth picking up if you don't already own it in another form; Stolen - a modest and surprisingly gentle documentary about a high-dollar art theft; Masters of Horror - John Mcnaughton - Haeckel's Tale - comes really close to greatness a few times but the flaws in the script keep it from being as good as it could have (and should have) been. Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week as well as a new feature which lets you Browse reviews by studio.
