New Movie Reviews: Babylon A.D., Disaster Movie, and Traitor
Vin Diesel is no match for futuristic thugs and the executives at Fox with the compromised sci-fi adventure Babylon A.D. Toxic jesters Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer return for more lampoon nonsense in the loathsome Disaster Movie. And Traitor takes on international terrorism under the guise of a pulse-quickening, Bournesque thriller. DVD Talk critics Brian Orndorf and David Walker examine the chase. Also in theaters: Homosexuals hit the beach in the wild sex farce Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild! The underage get a glimpse of the campus life in the comedy College. And the international football/soccer saga continues in the sequel Goal II: Living the Dream. Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: The House Bunny, Death Race, Hamlet 2, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Tropic Thunder, Mirrors, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Pineapple Express. The Rocker, The Longshots, Bottle Shock, The Midnight Meat Train, Transsiberian, and The Dark Knight. DVD Savant: World Without End & Satellite in the Sky, Starship Troopers 3, and Perils of the New Land
World Without End This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: World Without End & Satellite in the Sky - Warners' Best Buy exclusive combines two 'Scope 'n' Color Sci-Fi efforts from 1956: Allied Artists' engaging World Without End with Hugh Marlowe, Nancy Gates & Rod Taylor, and the ambitious English space story Satellite in the Sky with Kieron Moore, Lois Maxwell, Donald Wolfit and serious special effects problems. Essential space opera viewing; Starship Troopers 3: Marauder - The third installment in the Arachnid Wars saga brings back Johnny Rico and a rather good script by writer-director Ed Neumeier; and Perils of the New Land: Films of the Immigrant Experience 1910-1914 - Two fine silent films come off as very modern in both aim and direction: The Italian and Traffic in Souls. With excellent soundtracks, commentaries and a booklet of original reviews and press materials. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

This Week's Notable DVDs: Three Stooges, Heroes, and Salo
The Three Stooges Collection - Volume Three - 1940-1942 Some great discs are being released this week, everything from a re-release of Criterion's most sought after disc to slapstick comedy. This weeks top titles include:  The Three Stooges Collection - Volume Three - 1940-1942 [review] - this set features some of the team's all-time best work, it's another goldmine of comedy; Heroes: Season 2 [review] - the show is trying to recapture the magic, but comes up just a little short; and Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom [review]- out of print (and extremely expensive) for years, Criterion gives contemporary audiences a chance to break through the legend and see the truth behind Pier Paolo Pasolini's disturbing final film at last. Other releases of note include:  Leonard Bernstein [review], Entourage - The Complete Fourth Season [review] and Delicatessen: Special Edition [review].
