New Movie Reviews: 2012, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Pirate Radio
Roland Emmerich is here to destroy the world...again, in the massive disaster extravaganza 2012. Wes Anderson takes a journey into stop-motion animation with the magnificent feature Fantastic Mr. Fox. And it's the government stiffs versus the rockers in the Richard Curtis comedy Pirate Radio. Also in theaters: And Richard E. Grant tries to find life after marriage in Love Hurts. TV on DVD: Fraggle Rock, Homicide, and Bones
Fraggle Rock: The Complete Final Season Some great TV shows have been covered recently. DVD Savant: Eagles Over London, Wings of Desire, and Rancho Notorious
Eagles Over London [Blu-ray] This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Eagles Over London [Blu-ray] - Enzo G. Castellari depicts the evacuation of Dunkirk, followed by an undercover Nazi plot to wipe out England's radar warning system to aid the German conquest. Crazy war action from the maker of the original Inglorious Bastards; Wings of Desire - Wim Wenders bends his style to embrace old-fashioned German Expressionism in one of the most emotional art films ever: Bruno Ganz's forlorn angel of mercy falls in love with circus aerialist Solveig Dommartin, and chooses to become mortal. With a wonderful appearance by Peter Falk; and Rancho Notorious - Fritz Lang's emphatic, operatic western is all about Hate, Murder and Revenge! Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

Recently Announced Discs: Whip It, Pride & Prejudice, and Chuck
Whip It There have been some highly anticipated movies and shows recently scheduled for release. Check out these newly announced discs: Whip It on DVD and Blu-ray - Drew Barrymore's directorial debut was critically acclaimed and arrives on 1/26/10; Pride & Prejudice (2005) Blu-ray - Keira Knightley and Donald Sutherland star in this version of Jane Austen's classic does not include zombies. It will be on store shelves on 1/26/10; and Chuck: The Complete Second Season on DVD and Blu-ray- Everyone's favorite geek spy returns! This set will be available on 1/5/10. This Week's Notable DVDs: Up, G.I. Joe, and Lake Tahoe
Up (Blu-ray) Another banner week for DVDs with the studios releasing some great films such as: Up [Blu-ray review]- one of the year's best films. Not just animated films, one of the year's best; G.I. Joe: The Complete Collection [review] - Shout! Factory presents the entire run of the 80's cartoon, all 95 episodes on 17 DVDs all encased in a cool footlocker; and Lake Tahoe [review]- an impressive, restrained, carefully controlled observation of teenage experience that deserves a lasting reputation. Other releases of note include:  Monsters, Inc. [Blu-ray], Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut [Blu-ray], and The Three Stooges Collection, Vol. 7: 1952-1954. New DVD Reviews: Ancient Lives, Howards End, and Bruno
Ancient Lives Some great DVD reviews have been added to the the DVD Talk Review Database recently.
