TV on DVD: Survivors, Father Knows Best, and Pride and Prejudice
Survivors: Complete Original Series 1975-1977 TV on DVD remains very popular with more and more favorites being released. New TV reviews include: Survivors: Complete Original Series 1975-1977 - Doctor Who scribe Terry Nation created this excellent SF show that follows a few people who survived a virus that wiped out most of humanity; Father Knows Best: Season Four - this classic series holds up well. It's intelligent, funny, warm, and altogether believable...even in its unreality; Pride and Prejudice (1995) - this production stands toe-to-toe with the cream-of-the-crop of television miniseries. Other shows recently reviewed include:  Perry Mason - Season 5, Volume 1, Tales From the Darkside: Season Three and Dora the Explorer: Explore the Earth.  Want more?  Check out all of the TV on DVD reviews in the DVDTalk database.

DVD Savant: Matinee, Spartacus, and Avatar
Matinee This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews and articles including: Matinee - Joe Dante's comedy places monster movie mogul John Goodman in Florida to premiere his latest shocker, Mant!, an occasion interrupted by excitable teens and the Cuban Missile Crisis! Great movie, aggravating disc: no extras; Spartacus - Kirk Douglas and Stanley Kubrick's intellectual, pro-revolutionary epic reaches Blu-ray in its superb 1991 restoration by Robert A. Harris. With Laurence Olivier, Charles Laughton, Jean Simmons, Tony Curtis -- easily the best sword 'n' sandal film ever made; and Avatar - It's only in 2D, but this first Blu-ray of the most successful motion picture of all time looks really, really good. Savant mulls over the visual positives and the conceptual not-so-positives of James Cameron's gargantuan movie / enterprise / technical marvel. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
