DVD Savant: When the Wind Blows, Remember the Night, and Holiday in Spain
When the Wind Blows This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews and articles including: When the Wind Blows - One of the top anti-nuke movies, this British animated gem opts for a chilling understated approach, as adapted by Jimmy T. Murakami from the graphic novel by Raymond Briggs; Remember the Night - Paramount/Universal's new contender for favorite Christmas movie adds a touch of larceny and urban angst to a powerful romance investigating the charm of small-town life; and Holiday in Spain - Perhaps the strangest 70mm Road Show ever produced, this comedy adventure travelogue was originally titled Scent of a Mystery and released in Smell-O-Vision -- then re-cut and re-formatted for 3-panel Cinerama! Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

This Week's Notable Releases: MST3K The Turkey Day Collection, L'avventura, and A Life in Dirty Movies
Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Turkey Day Collection Some great discs are being released this week. Check out these new movies: Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Turkey Day Collection [review] - Even after dozens of collections, this set proves that there are still some great episodes of MST out there... these shows are all very good and some are great; L'avventura: Criterion Collection [review] - half drama and half visual tour de force...and occasionally, it's both at once. Criterion's new Blu-ray offers a flawless restoration of material that demands it; and A Life in Dirty Movies [review] - a thoughtful, loving and respectful tribute to a perhaps misunderstood filmmaker of genuine talent. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

Recent Reviews: The Bubble, The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Killer Elite
The Bubble aka Fantastic Invasion of Planet Earth (3-D) Check out the latest reviews that have been entered into the DVD Talk Review Database including: The Bubble aka Fantastic Invasion of Planet Earth (3-D) - featuring a bizarre plot as well as its plentiful, eye-popping 3-D effects for aficionados this film is a must; The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945) - Visually stark, emotionally gloomy, and appropriately thought-provoking, it's a tweaked but mesmerizing take on Oscar Wilde's gothic horror-drama novel that makes certain to hit all the right dramatic and philosophical notes; and The Killer Elite (1975) - Anchored by fantastic performances from James Caan and Robert Duvall, this tale of two contract assassins who go from being partners to arch enemies is an entertaining action picture that exemplifies the look and feel of 1970s American cinema. Other recent reviews include: Why Be Good?, One Piece: Collection Ten, and Looking For Johnny: The Legend Of Johnny Thunders.  Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
