This week's notable entries include: The Missing - this Starz miniseries is certainly compelling viewing and once you know how the story ends it practically begs to be watched at least one more time; NCIS: The Twelfth Season (Best Buy Exclusive Edition) - Even after so many seasons this show is still entertaining television that is well worth checking out; and The Perfect American (An Opera by Philip Glass) - As a piece of music and as a piece of visual art, this opera touches upon both the myth and reality of Walt Disney in ways that are both imaginative and engrossing. DVD Talk's Highest Rating - the Collector Series
Thunderbirds: The Complete Series Sometimes a release just outstanding... a fantastic movie with a great transfer and fun, informative extras. These rare, top shelf discs earn the DVD Talk Collector's Series rating and it's hard to get. Here are some recent releases that have made the mark: Thunderbirds: The Complete Series - the handmade yet often ingenious craftsmanship of this Supermarionation series still dazzles; House of Bamboo - this Samuel Fuller film is a pulpy confection of gangster action, and Twilight Time's disc comes with a great-looking transfer from a new 4K scan; and The Giant Spider Invasion - packed with shivery thrills, a handful of tarantulas, good old 'Southern Melodrama', and the greatest fake giant spider ever put to screen, this movie is pure fun. This Week's Notable Releases: The Goldbergs, The Epic of Everest, and Hee Haw
The Goldbergs: Season 2 Some great discs are being released this week. Check out these new movies and shows: The Goldbergs: Season 2 [review] - the performances and comedy are strong in this season of the hilarious, yet warm-hearted series powered by ‘80s nostalgia; The Epic of Everest [review] - this documentary from 1924 favors discovery and exploration over manufactured drama and crippling failure and is an accessible and entertaining slice of film history; and The Hee Haw Collection [review] - the magic formula of intentionally dumb jokes and great country music made this show a long-running TV institution and this set of five hour-long episodes offers a nice primer for the casually curious. Other reviews of note include: Defiance [review], Vigilante Force [review], and Shocker [review]. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

Recent Reviews: Walt Disney,Good Kill, and Gene Autry
American Experience: Walt Disney This week the DVD Talk Review Database has some great new entries, including a few discs you may have overlooked. Recent reviews include: American Experience: Walt Disney - an exhaustive four-hour look at the business mogul's life and times... a worthy effort for casual fans and die-hards alike; Good Kill - writer/director Andrew Niccol's story about a drone pilot's inner struggle humanizes an issue that too many Americans take for granted, and it deserves a shot on that merit alone; and Gene Autry Collection 11 - a set of four enjoyable restored films packed with an impressive array of supplements... highly recommended. Other recent reviews include: The Man Without a Past, Island of Death, and Busting.  Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
