TV on DVD: Star Trek: Enterprise, The Shannara Chronicles, and The Wonder Years
Star Trek: Enterprise: The Complete Series TV on DVD and Blu-ray remains very popular with more and more favorites being released. New TV reviews include: Star Trek: Enterprise: The Complete Series - an entertaining riff on the classic Star Trek format… the series blends together many references to classic Star Trek while still giving its own take on the characters; The Shannara Chronicles: Season One - unfortunately, the writers opted to forsake the elements that made the novels so enjoyable changing characters to fit the mold of what the ideal teenage audience MTV was no doubt looking for; and The Wonder Years: Season 6 - while season six isn't going to be argued to be the best of the series anytime soon, it has a number of iconic episodes and provides the logical conclusion the series needed. Notable Releases: Moonlight, Cameraperson, and The Before Trilogy
Moonlight There are a few new releases this week that you won't want to miss. Check out these hot titles: Moonlight - one of the most deserving Best Picture Oscar winners of recent years… it presents a deeply human experience wrapped around a cinematically breathtaking execution; Cameraperson - The Criterion Collection - documentary cinematographer Kirsten Johnson's film is a fascinating collection of moments, people, places, and things that were left out of the projects she initially captured them for; and The Before Trilogy - Richard Linklater's trilogy features terrific atmospheres and engaging lead performances by Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy… all three installments feel immediately memorable and relevant for entirely different reasons.
