Movies in Theaters: Logan, Kong: Skull Island, and Beauty and the Beast
It'd be a good week to go to the movies. Here are DVD Talk's recent theatrical reviews:
Logan - a solid feature... something that innovates while still harking back, a movie that should please a large audience and make us thirsty for more; Kong: Skull Island - this is an action movie with Kong as an odd sort of hero... a film we want to watch despite its poorer properties; and Beauty and the Beast (2017) - almost everything goes right in this risky venture that could have fallen flat on its face. The result is a delightful and entertaining film.
Other recent films include: Split, Gold, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, ans La La Land.

TV on DVD: Homeland, Ballers, and Trailer Trauma 3
More TV shows have made their way on to DVD and Blu-ray, and DVD Talk has got them covered. Check out our reviews of the newest TV releases including:
Homeland: The Complete Fifth Season - – an impressive outing for the Claire Danes-led thriller… the narrative and characters evolve in satisfying ways, and the show proves able to leave the Middle East for other environments without losing steam; Ballers: The Complete Second Season - the show is consistently entertaining, and season two adds surprising depth with commentary on contact sports, spoiled recruits and painkiller addiction; and Trailer Trauma 3: 80s Horror-Thon - this massive collection of trailers is just plain awesome... it is hours and hours' worth of entertainment.

Notable Releases: Ghost in the Shell, Skull, and Return of Kung Fu Trailers of Fury
Another banner week for home video with the studios releasing some great films and boxed sets such as:
Ghost in the Shell (1995 Movie) - a breakthrough film that achieved what few anime have by breaking into the mainstream of cinema; Skull - an entertaining slice of vintage British horror made with plenty of style and showcasing some pretty solid performances by Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee; and Return of Kung Fu Trailers of Fury - these two hours of teases were easy to sit through and the informative commentary from some real kung-fu fans makes this a disc to check out.

New Reviews: Finian's Rainbow, Justice League Dark, and 23 Paces to Baker Street
Some cool discs have been reviewed over the past week. Check out these recent entries:
Finian's Rainbow - roguish Irishman Finian McLonergan (Fred Astaire) has stolen a pot of gold from a manic leprechaun named Og in this strange yet wonderful musical; Justice League Dark - director Jay Oliva and his writers dedicate their energy to realizing this lesser-known group of spellcasting heroes, giving antihero John Constantine a new venue through which he can continue blazing; and 23 Paces to Baker Street - surprisingly good, this film plays like a variation of Hitchcock's Rear Window.
