Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Singles Collection TV on DVD and Blu-ray remains very popular with more and more favorites being released. New TV reviews include: Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Singles Collection - a must-own... some of the show's absolute best episodes are included here, and the newly produced bonuses are worthy additions; and The Martian Chronicles - the three-part television miniseries adaptation of Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles is pretty weak, but the show has some good points that make it worth seeing once . Recent Notable Releases: Ready Player One, A Strange Adventure, and The Navigator: A Medieval Odyssey
Ready Player One There are some new titles coming out that might make it worth a trip to the video store. Check out these recent releases: Ready Player One - a layered mash-up of existing films, books, video games, and other stuff from the past 40-odd years, pureed together in an attempt to create something new and refreshing; A Strange Adventure - the A/V quality of this Kino release is superb… beyond any doubt one of the most exceptional presentations of a film noir on Blu-ray to date ; and The Navigator: A Medieval Odyssey - fans of director Vincent Ward will enjoy surreal nature and time-travelling fantasy elements of the film and Arrow has served up yet another rock-solid home video presentation that plays to the film's strengths. New Reviews: Bull Durham, Pacific Rim: Uprising, and The Hurricane Heist
Bull Durham Our reviewers have been busy this week, filling the DVD Talk Review Database more great entries. Some new reviews of note include: Bull Durham - a fun jaunt through late 1980s minor league baseball… a film about people within baseball on the up and down slope of their careers; Pacific Rim: Uprising - a disappointing sequel… This Steven S. DeKnight-directed actioner pales in comparison with Guillermo del Toro's 2013 original, and fails to match that film's action, heart, humor and effects; and The Hurricane Heist (4K UHD) - this actioner is a competent direct-to-video film that had a minor theatrical release... the 4K image will not blow you away, but the Atmos track might. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
