TV on DVD: Key & Peele, Lou Grant, and Blaze and the Monster Machines
Key & Peele: The Complete Series Interested in the latest TV on DVD reviews? DVD Talk has you covered! This week's notable entries include: Key & Peele: The Complete Series - full of hilarious bits covering everything from big concepts like race relations to daily minutia like pushing the crosswalk button, the stars had the range to do just about anything and do it well which prevents the show from getting stale over the span of 53 episodes; Lou Grant: The Complete First Season - though a bit dated in the journalistic evolution sense, unlike most ‘70s dramas this show is as riveting as today's best dramas; and Blaze and the Monster Machines: Fired Up - another fine collection of above-average kids' entertainment, this disc serves up plenty of action, adventure, and excitement aimed at single-digit scamps. This Week's Notable Releases: Hardcore Henry, The Boy Who Cried Werewolf, and Pioneers of African American Cinema
Hardcore Henry Several great movies and programs have come out recently, including a few that shouldn't be missed: Hardcore Henry - a movie that plays like a combination of the videogame Half-Life mixed in with a pinch of RoboCop... all within a beautiful, chaotic snow globe of a Russian dash cam video; The Boy Who Cried Werewolf - a briskly paced feature that has languished in obscurity for years now, the movie turns out to be a lot of fun thanks primarily to some great ‘old fashioned' style transformation effects; and Pioneers of African American Cinema - this massive 5-disc, set running over 21 hours total does a magnificent job presenting a nearly forgotten chapter in film history as well as African-American culture. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

Movies in Theaters: Ghostbusters (2016) and The Neon Demon
Ghostbusters (2016) Before you head off to the cinema this weekend, check out DVD Talk's reviews of the latest releases including: Ghostbusters (2016) [a second review] - in this reboot of the franchise, the jokes don't work, the main characters aren't consistently funny, and the film has to bring in familiar faces for cameos far too often, showing a lack of confidence; and The Neon Demon - Nicolas Winding Refn's movie about an underage aspiring model is a genre-bleeding film that tiptoes along the edge of drama and suspense. Other recent films include: The BFG, The Legend of Tarzan, Finding Dory, Warcraft, Alice Through the Looking Glass, The Nice Guys, X-Men: Apocalypse (3D), Captain America: Civil War, Tale of Tales, and The Jungle Book. Check out these, and more, in DVDTalk's Theatrical Review section.

New Reviews: Ray Harryhausen, Carnival of Souls, and Panic in Needle Park
Ray Harryhausen: Special Effects Titan This week the DVD Talk Review Database has some great new entries, including a few discs you may have overlooked. Recent reviews include: Ray Harryhausen: Special Effects Titan - a loving tribute to one of the most talented and wildly influential artists in the history of cinema; Carnival of Souls - a high point in low budget American horror from the sixties, standing tall alongside other notable genre entries like Night of the Living Dead; and The Panic in Needle Park - this movie is bleak as hell, but its loose style, infused with the energy of the street, and the outstanding performances from young Al Pacino and Kitty Winn make the film intensely watchable and highly recommended. This Week's Notable Releases: The Ox-Bow Incident, Green Room, and Flight of the Butterflies
The Ox-Bow Incident There are some new titles coming out that might make it worth a trip to the video store. Check out these recent releases: The Ox-Bow Incident - director William Wellman's 1943 adaptation of the famous story is a damn good film that's absolutely worth revisiting, having lost none of its power or its poignancy over the seven decades plus since it was first made; Green Room - a member of a rock band sees something he shouldn't have seen after playing for a group of skinheads in Jeremy Saulnier's incredibly intense film; and Flight Of The Butterflies - a truly wonderful film, this educational movie is also lovely to view and tells an entertaining story... the 4K Ultra HD version is really impressive, but the 3D version is the one to watch. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

DVD Talk Interview: Paul Feig
DVD Talk Interview: Paul Feig It'd be a good week to go to the movies. Here are DVD Talk's recent theatrical reviews: When Paul Feig was working on The Office in 2008, he felt a little slime-green with envy as two of his colleagues, Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, were offered the chance to help write Ghostbusters 3. Little did he know that he was only a few years away from directing a string of blockbuster comedies: Bridesmaids, The Heat, and Spy, all of which he made with breakout star Melissa McCarthy (who joined a rare club of comic actors when she was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance as brash but kind-hearted Megan in Bridesmaids). Now, it's his former "Office"-mates' turn to be jealous, as Feig tackled both co-writing and directing duties on this summer's Ghostbusters, a reboot of the franchise that reunites him with McCarthy and Kristen Wiig, as well as Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Feig was nice enough to clear a bit of time in his schedule to talk with DVDTalk over the phone, just days before his biggest movie yet opens in theaters. Read what he had to say in the latest exclusive DVD Talk Interview.

This Week's Notable Releases: The In-Laws, Only Yesterday, and Blood and Black Lace
The In-Laws Another banner week for DVDs with the studios releasing some great films and boxed sets such as: The In-Laws - this film is so fun and breezy that it holds up well to multiple viewings, driven by the stars Alan Arkin and Peter Falk, an exemplary supporting cast and an outstanding writing and directing team; Only Yesterday - thanks to Gkids, this animated coming-of-age drama from Studio Ghibli is finally available on home video in the US... and it is a masterpiece; and Blood and Black Lace - Mario Bava's semianl film has been meticulous restorated and the picture looks simply stunning on this Blu-ray. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

New Reviews: Return of the Killer Tomatoes, Rollercoaster, and Clouds of Sils Maria
Return of the Killer Tomatoes Check out the latest reviews that have been entered into the DVD Talk Review Database including: Return of the Killer Tomatoes - one of the funniest and most underappreciated comedies of the decades... it comes highly recommended; Rollercoaster - the cat-and-mouse maneuvers between stars George Segal and Timothy Bottoms make this 1977 thriller really worth watching; and Clouds of Sils Maria: The Criterion Collection - Olivier Assayas wraps up a meditative premise with decent, overly enigmatic drama in this tale of an aging actress who ruminates on her career as she prepares to play the lead character opposite the one that made her a star in her youth. Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

Movies in Theaters: The BFG, The Legend of Tarzan, and The Shallows
Finding Dory It'd be a good week to go to the movies. Here are DVD Talk's recent theatrical reviews: The BFG - a very strong adaptation of an established story, and a visually breathtaking movie that should find nothing but fans; The Legend of Tarzan - this movie ought to be good, but when you miscast your movie & destroy the plot that it's based on, bad things happen; and The Shallows - the must-see horror film of the year is here... this blood-in-the-water fright fest is just in time for your trip to the beach too. Other recent films include: Finding Dory, Warcraft, Alice Through the Looking Glass, The Nice Guys, X-Men: Apocalypse (3D), Captain America: Civil War, Tale of Tales, and The Jungle Book. Check out these, and more, in DVDTalk's Theatrical Review section.
