New Movie Reviews: Jennifer's Body, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and The Informant!
Starlet Megan Fox and screenwriter Diablo Cody combine forces to examine the demonic soul of the American teenager in Jennifer's Body. The sky rains burgers and fries in the delightful animated film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. And Matt Damon is the ultimate mole in Steven Soderbergh's dry farce The Informant! DVD Talk critics Brian Orndorf, Jamie S. Rich, and Jason Bailey believe the lies. Also in theaters: Lars von Trier brings the pain with Antichrist. The Red Army Faction story is told in The Baader Meinhof Complex. Aaron Eckhart and Jennifer Aniston find that Love Happens. Aussie farmboy teaches music to prisoners in Broken Hill. And John Malkovich finds his life torn apart in Disgrace. Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: Halloween II, Whiteout, Sorority Row, 9, Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself, The Final Destination, Inglourious Basterds, The September Issue, All About Steve, Extract, Julie & Julia, and It Might Get Loud. As always, we invite you to share your thoughts on films In Theaters in our Movie Talk Forum.

TV on DVD: Sanctuary, Parks and Recreation, and Entourage
Sanctuary: The Complete First Season Some cool TV shows have been reviewed recently. Check out these must-see programs: Sanctuary: The Complete First Season - the Syfy show has a rocky start but soon gets its bearings and evolves into one of the best SF programs to premier last year; Parks and Recreation: Season One - this show is engaging from start to finish: Who knew local government in a small Midwest town could be this funny?; and Entourage: The Complete Fifth Season - this show continues to entertain with a great cast and excellent writing. Other shows recently reviewed include:  Two and a Half Men: The Complete Sixth Seasonh, Important Things with Demetri Martin: Season One and The Secret Saturdays, Vol. 1.  Want more?  Check out all of the TV on DVD reviews in the DVDTalk database.

This Week's Notable DVDs: X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Big Bang Theory, and Next Day Air
X-Men Origins: Wolverine It's that time of year when the summer blockbusters and last year's TV seasons start turning up on home video. So check out these new movies and shows: X-Men Origins: Wolverine DVD and Blu-ray - though the film received only mixed reviews it still went on to gross over $360 million worldwide, which (if I may use a cliche to describe a cliche-filled movie) is nothing to sneeze at; The Big Bang Theory: Season Two [review] - the show continues with endless streams of clever nerd-based humor and great situational gags; and Next Day Air [review]- Don't listen to what the critics said (well, except our critic...) this is an entertaining film with a well-balanced mix of comedy, action and drama. Other releases of note include:  Iron Monkey (Blu-ray) [review], Trumbo [review], and Hero [review]. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

DVD Savant: Van Helsing, Private Century, and Die Walküre
Van Helsing [Blu-ray] This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews including: Van Helsing [Blu-ray] - Stephen Sommers' attempt to reboot the Classic Universal Horrors gets a fair trial on the Blu-ray format ... hey, that's a lot of, um, interesting CGI work, there. Starring Hugh Jackman, Kate Beckinsale and some very active pixel people; Private Century - This amazing Czech miniseries covers fifty years of history as seen through the Home Movies of various Czech families. The films are amazing and the personal stories attain great novel status. Gripping entertainment and mind-opening revelations in Facets Video's two-DVD set; and Wagner: Die Walküre - Something new for Savant -- a review of an opera Blu-ray, by a reviewer who knows next to nothing about opera but finds it fascinating just the same. Carl St. Claire conducts; Catherine Foster sings Brünnhilde in a modernistic staging of part 2 of the Ring Cycle. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

DVD Stalk: Warner Archives, El Superbeasto and more
The Haunted World Of El Superbeasto Good things come to those who wait and you guys and girls out there sure have been waiting ever so patiently for the next DVD Stalk. Let's hope that this ultra-late though hopefully not so lamented installment of the column doesn't disappoint. We aren't going to BS you with excuses, instead, let's cut right to the chase and get on with it. What's been happening in the world of horror DVD and Blu-ray lately? More than you might expect. Halloween is just around the corner and while this season isn't as busy as some have (the industry is in a bit of a financial slump, just like the rest of the country), there's still plenty of meat on the bones of the horror community - here's hoping this issue of DVD Stalk makes you hip as to where to find it. Check it out!
