DVD Savant: Dances With Wolves, The Naked Kiss, and Pleasantville
Dances With Wolves This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews and articles including: Dances With Wolves - Kevin Costner's big Oscar winner is 25% more grandiose in its 20th Anniversary Extended Cut, and a beautiful sight in widescreen Blu-ray; The Naked Kiss - Sam Fuller's most extreme melodrama sees a reformed prostitute getting involved with crippled children, police corruption and a civic leader with a disturbing secret; and Pleasantville - Gary Ross' delightful fantasy transports Tobey Maguire and Reese Witherspoon into the reality of a B&W '50s situation comedy family show, where everything is "G" rated and the innocent citizens have no knowledge of sex, the outside world, or Color. But a little bit of knowledge leads to a cultural revolution in this strange Garden of Eden. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
