DVD Talk Feature: The 2015 Academy Awards
2015 Oscar Nominees On February 22, 2015 the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will be presenting the 87th Academy Awards and awarding the famous golden statues to some of the best theatrical releases of 2014. DVD Talk reviewers Jeff Nelson and Jamie S. Rich have cast their votes for their favorites of the nominees in all of the categories. What films and actors will win their votes? This is the year of the biopics with “Selma,” “The Imitation Game,” and “The Theory of Everything,” but they will have to fight the independent powerhouse that is “Boyhood” if they hope to have a chance to take home the ultimate title of Best Picture. Is this the year for Hollywood, or will the independent world take it home? Check out the votes in this year’s coverage of the Academy Awards.

New Movie Reviews: Fifty Shades of Grey, Paddington, and Jupiter Ascending
Fifty Shades of Grey Planning a trip to the local multiplex this weekend? Here are DVD Talk's reviews of the latest theatrical releases: Fifty Shades of Grey - a very different type of love story than we're used to seeing from Hollywood...; Paddington - an enjoyable film, one that you walk away from feeling good but also appreciating the effort that was put in to bringing this classic story to life; and Jupiter Ascending - a film that is pretty fun, though it dips and drags whenever any two characters speak more than five lines of dialogue. Other recent films include: Foxcatcher, Leviathan (2014), American Sniper, Inherent Vice, Into the Woods, The Imitation Game, Selma, Wild, The Babadook, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part I, Big Hero 6, Interstellar, The Theory of Everything, Birdman, Dracula Untold, Gone Girl. . Check out these, and more, in DVDTalk's Theatrical Review section.

DVD Savant: Don't Look Now, The Purple Rose of Cairo, and Nightcrawler
Don't Look Now This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews and articles including: Don't Look Now - Nicolas Roeg uses his signature splintered-time editorial patterns to enliven an intense suspense tale of ghosts and/or psychic synchronicity, but the real appeal is in the naturalistic, erotic marriage created between stars Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland; The Purple Rose of Cairo - Woody Allen's gentle ode to the dream world of Hollywood is one of his very best pictures, a fantasy-tragedy that remains funny and charming all the way through; and Nightcrawler - Jake Gyllenhaal creeps, and leaps, and glides and slides across Los Angeles pursuing a ghoulish profession in Dan Gilroy's refreshingly original tale of dead-of-night doings in the name of better gore for local TV. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.
