TV on DVD: Louie, Banshee, and PAW Patrol
Some great TV shows have made their way onto home video recently including:
Louie: Season 5 - better than damn near most anything on television at the moment... this season tries to reign in some of its borders to be a little more consumable but there are moments of vitality that burst through and make it fun to watch; Banshee: The Complete Third Season - as bloody, pulpy and ridiculous as ever this season is ten hours of frenetic entertainment with likeable, morally ambiguous characters; and PAW Patrol: Brave Heroes, Big Rescues - another decent collection of fun episodes that young fans should enjoy.

This Week's Notable Releases: The Hallow, Luciano Ercoli, and Journey to the Seventh Planet
Wondering what movies and shows have recently made their way to home video that you may have missed? Here are some notable discs that you might want to check out:
The Hallow [review] - rich in atmosphere and nicely acted, this movie is an enjoyable fairy tale about nefarious woodland creatures; and Death Walks Twice: Two Films by Luciano Ercoli [review] - the movies themselves hold up quite well, both pictures providing plenty of thrills and suspenseful entertainment, while the presentations are top notch and the new supplements extensive and interesting; and Journey to the Seventh Planet [review] - genre fans will enjoy this film that possesses many beguiling little moments that make it plain that the filmmakers were at least striving for something halfway decent, even if the budget and their own skills weren't up to the task.

Our reviewers have been busy this week, filling the DVD
Talk Review Database more great entries. Some new reviews of note include:
The Manchurian Candidate - a true classic of suspense featuring great performances and awesome cinematography and Criterion's Blu-ray release is very strong, offering up quite an improvement over the MGM Blu-ray release of the film, alongside a great selection of extra features; Brooklyn - this emotional but unsentimental tale of an Irish lass making big decisions features a breakout performance by Saoirse Ronan; and The Serpent and the Rainbow - an involving project from the late horror icon Wes Craven.... Bill Pullman plays an ethnobotanist searching for a zombie-making drug in Haiti amid a political revolution.
