Notable Releases: La La Land, Rumble Fish, and The Vampire Bat
La La Land 4K Ultra HD There are a few new releases this week that you won't want to miss. Check out these hot titles: La La Land 4K Ultra HD - this movie proves that musicals can still play on the big screen, providing a mix of both modernism and "Old Hollywood" that really works; Rumble Fish: Criterion Collection - Francis Ford Coppola's film pairs crisp black-and-white cinematography and stylish editing with the angst of restless gang life in Tulsa, Oklahoma; and The Vampire Bat - Special Edition - staring Lionel Atwill and Fay Wray, this 1933 horror flick is newly restored from 35mm elements and looks great. New Reviews: Donnie Darko, Hidden Figures, and The Handmaid's Tale
Donnie Darko: Limited Edition Check out the latest reviews that have been entered into the DVD Talk Review Database including: Donnie Darko: Limited Edition - an ambitious and genre-bending slice of science-fiction, fantasy, and drama, Richard Kelly's film holds up perfectly well 15 years later and will likely endure for several more decades; Hidden Figures - tells a fascinating story from NASA’s history and is helped along by very good performances by just about everyone; and The Handmaid's Tale - far from feeling dated, this underrated piece of speculative fiction is now more uncannily in-sync with the times than when it was originally released.
