Legion Season 1 More TV shows have made their way on to DVD and Blu-ray, and DVD Talk has got them covered. Recent Notable Releases: The Virgin Suicides, Dead Man, and The Maze 3-D
The Virgin Suicides Another banner week for home video with the studios releasing some great films and boxed sets such as: The Virgin Suicides - Criterion throws it back to the magical cinematic year of 199, and comes up with another highlight release with Sofia Coppola's debut feature… a heart-wrenching and beautiful film; Dead Man - an oddball western that is as fascinating as it is entertaining… performed by fantastic cast and featuring some of the strongest direction of Jim Jarmusch's career, it's absolutely a film worth seeing a few times; and The Maze 3-D - the use of 3-D here is remarkable in that it doesn't hit you over the head with gimmicks yet still provides a far different experience than the 2-D version. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

New Reviews: The Greatest Showman, The Dark Crystal, and Trigger, Jr.
The Greatest Showman Some great DVD and Blu-ray reviews have been added to the the DVD Talk Review Database recently including: The Greatest Showman - this film has everything: romance, drama, humor, pain and joy, all in a package that is as catchy, toe-tapping and chills-inducing as anything Hollywood has offered in the modern era ; The Dark Crystal 4K - imaginative and wholly involving, this moive is a wonderful, fantastical collaboration from Frank Oz and Jim Henson; and Trigger, Jr. - a fairly typical example of late B-Western Roy Rogers, not much better though certainly no worse than Roy's other Bs. What's significant here is that the video transfer.. a new 4K scan from the original negatives. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

What's not to like?; The Sandlot - this touchstone film is cinematic comfort food with the performances by the young ensemble being heartfelt and genuine; and Doctor Detroit - Dan Aykroyd cuts loose as a not-quite-wannabe pimp with a metal hand and a warm-hearted crew of prostitutes in this this ‘80s cult comedy. Movies in Theaters: Ready Player One, Rampage, and A Quiet Place
Ready Player One Planning a trip to the local multiplex this week? Here are DVD Talk's reviews of the latest theatrical releases: Ready Player One - Steven Spielberg's latest pays homage to the 80's laying badass fictional characters and cars and games and music at your feet until you're ready to worship whoever it was that brought it all to you; Rampage - a terribly simple and ridiculous plot filled with some of the worst dialogue you'll ever hear, but it's also full of goofy moments and pure mayhem that make the experience of watching worth the time; and A Quiet Place - fairly frightening, the tiniest bit gruesome, but nothing like the monster movie model you might immediately imagine... it takes the fear to another level, to a place that's much more personal. Check out these, and more, in DVDTalk's Theatrical Review section.

TV Reviews: The Outer Limits, Laugh-In, and PAW Patrol
The Outer Limits: Season One TV on DVD and Blu-ray remains very popular with more and more favorites being released. New TV reviews include: The Outer Limits: Season One - Kino's Blu-ray treatment is objectively great: featuring top-tier restoration work that rivals classic Star Trek and The Twilight Zone, substantially improved audio mixes, and nearly two dozen audio commentaries from enthusiastic participants; Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In: The Complete Second Season - an odd mix of old-fashioned and new-fangled, silly and smart, broad and pinpoint accurate… there are still plenty of laughs to be gleaned from this season; and PAW Patrol: Sea Patrol - still going strong after more than four years… it's been a consistently fun and entertaining show: colorful and action-packed with great characters, this series is more enjoyable than its simple, unchanging formula implies. Recent Notable Releases: Justice League, King of Jazz, and Push
Justice League There are a few new releases that you won't want to miss. Check out these hot titles: Justice League - this film just goes through the motions… you see everything coming a mile away, and nothing; not the script, nor the ensemble's execution, makes it interesting; King of Jazz - chockfull of great music, ambitious special effects, stunning production design and costumes, superb two-strip Technicolor cinematography, some amazing specialty acts, and from a historical standpoint it's unquestionably priceless; and Push (4K UHD) - it's a welcomed change to see superpowered battles royale without capes or cowls… these aren't superheroes with their chests puffed out; just otherwise ordinary people trying to eke out a quiet life for themselves. Be sure to check out our DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.

New Reviews: The Awful Truth, Basket Case, and Frank Serpico

Check out these recent entries: The Awful Truth - a true gem and early career highlight for Cary Grant and Irene Dunn, Leo McCarey's film stands tall as one of the best examples of screwball comedy done exactly right; Basket Case - Arrow Video once again knocks it out of the park when it comes to their releases of important cult films, with a stellar A/V presentation and an overabundance of extras; and Frank Serpico - this documentary looks at the real-life cop who Al Pacino and Sidney Lumet made famous in their 1973 film that bears his name. TV Reviews: Steven Universe, The Master, and Dynasty
Steven Universe: The Complete First Season TV on DVD and Blu-ray remains very popular with more and more favorites being released. New TV reviews include: Steven Universe: The Complete First Season - this show holds plenty of appeal for kids, but the show contains more than enough clever writing and smart observations to make it just as appealing for adults as well; The Master - this faux martial arts action-adventure TV series is extremely dopey but surprisingly enjoyable; and Dynasty: The Complete Series - a blast from the past, and what this set lacks in bonus materials it more than makes up for in nostalgia and cheesy fun. Want more?  Check out all of the TV on DVD reviews in the DVD Talk database.

Recent Notable Releases: The Disaster Artist, The New Centurions, and Downsizing
The Disaster Artist Some great discs have been released in the last couple of weeks. Check out these new movies and shows: The Disaster Artist - the movie has many great conceptual ingredients, but writer/director Rian Johnson couldn't pull the recipe together… it still has plenty of fun moments, and that may be enough to keep you entertained; The New Centurions - treads well-worn territory but offers terrific performances and a handful of extremely memorable moments… just as relevant now as it likely was in 1972; and Downsizing - this film starts strong, loses all focus within the first hour, wanders around aimlessly, greatly overstays its welcome, and doesn't come close to earning its navel-gazing non-ending. New Reviews: Dealt, Beyond The 7th Door, and Birdboy
Dealt Our reviewers have been busy this week, filling the DVD Talk Review Database more great entries. Some new reviews of note include: Dealt - an engaging documentary about Richard Turner, a charismatic and remarkably talented sleight of hand artist whose astounding tricks with a deck of cards are even more impressive because he is totally blind; Beyond The 7th Door - a twisty, engaging puzzle film, where two weirdos of questionable morality try to make it through seven traps to win a monetary reward; and Birdboy: The Forgotten Children - a dark, disturbing, but compelling animated import, this movie telegraphs potent visuals and themes surrounding the story of a pseudo post-apocalyptic island where a group of children strive to leave.
