New Game Reviews: Mafia II, NHL 2K11, Shank, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Mafia II Review Published by 2K Games, the sequel to 2002's Mafia landed on store shelves this week for the 306, PS3 and PC. Take a look at our full review of Mafia II. Rapper T.I. leads a group of bank robbers as they take on their greatest challenge in the actioner Takers. The devil creates trouble for a charlatan in the found footage horror film The Last Exorcism. Read reviews from Brian Orndorf and Tyler Foster. DVD Savant: The Long Good Friday, Dealing, and Steamboat Bill, Jr.
The Long Good Friday This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews and articles including: The Long Good Friday - Image Entertainment brings us a Blu-ray of this modern gangster classic, starring a ferocious Bob Hoskins in a star-making turn as a Cockney ganglord; Dealing - This odd hipster drama about a college slacker sinking neck-deep into the drug game benefits from good performances, especially from Barbara Hershey and first-timer John Lithgow; and Steamboat Bill, Jr. - the second hilarious Buster Keaton classic in Blu-ray. DVD Talk Feature: Star Wars Celebration V
Star Wars Celebration V The force was strong with the sweltering city of Orlando, Florida last weekend when Jedi master George Lucas brought his convention behemoth, Star Wars Celebration V, to town. It was a packed weekend of wookies, droids, panels, toys, and sweaty attendees, and DVD Talk's own Padawan learner, Brian Orndorf, was there to capture all the intensely costumed excitement. This Week's Notable DVDs: Lost, Shogun Assassin, and The Square
Lost: The Complete Sixth and Final Season Another banner week for DVDs with the studios releasing some great films and boxed sets such as: Lost: The Complete Sixth and Final Season - It's been a wild ride for the passangers of Oceanic Flight 815 and it comes to an end with this not-to-be-missed season; Shogun Assassin [DVD review] - a radical reworking two Japanese movies combined into a single action-filled extravaganza; and The Square [DVD review, Blu-ray review] - with fingernail-chewing suspense and sharp, menacing performances, this film is a feisty concoction, boiling over to a shocking finale that kicks the viewer in the gut.
