TV on DVD: Thunderbirds, American Dad, and A Place to Call Home
TV on DVD remains very popular with more and more favorites being released. New TV reviews include:
Thunderbirds: The Complete Series - the handmade yet often ingenious craftsmanship of this Supermarionation series really dazzles... it is a real delight; American Dad Volume 10 - though this show started off as an amusing enough spin on the "Family Guy" formula, it really grew into a memorably funny series and is an underrated sitcom and A Place to Call Home, Season 2 - fresh surprises abound in the second year of the juicy, 1950s-set Australian show, a worthwhile watch for anyone who loves a good, solid drama.

DVD Savant: It Follows, Miracle Mile, and Riffraff
This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews and articles including: It Follows - this shocker delivers the goods with no excuses... it's great, quality filmmaking as well; Miracle Mile - this nuke-threat classic has a sure-fire, can't-lose Cold War jitters premise: if you were to somehow be given a 90-minute early warning for an impending nuclear attack, what would you do?; and Riffraff - Pat O'Brien and Anne Jeffreys are a sleuth and a femme fatale caught up in an oil scheme in Panama.
Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

This Week's Notable Releases: Maggie, Slow West, and Truck Turner
Some great discs are being released this week. Check out these new movies:
Maggie [review] - Arnold Schwarzenegger impressively channels his commanding screen presence into a sympathetic, protective father in this emotionally complex zombie film; Slow West [review] - a great, great quirky Western adventure with a ton of heart and talent to spare; and Truck Turner [review] - a ridiculously entertaining picture, mixing healthy doses of action, comedy, and cool and the commentary track winds up being worth the price of admission alone!
Other reviews of note include: Deranged [review], Contamination [review], and Robot Jox [review].

Recent Reviews: Vanilla Sky, Hiroshima mon amour, and The Happiness of the Katakuris
Some cool discs have been reviewed over the past week. Check out these recent entries:
Vanilla Sky - a beautifully-concocted collage of romance, psychological thriller, and science-fiction that only gets better with repeat viewings; Hiroshima mon amour: Criterion Collection - Alain Resnais' film has easily withstood the test of time, doubling as a potent human drama and an invaluable time capsule; and The Happiness of the Katakuris - a sweet-natured, dark-hearted, totally insane film. If you haven't seen it yet, you must rectify this error as soon as possible -- if only to have the story to tell your friends.
Other recent reviews include: Kern & Hammerstein: Show Boat, Cemetery Without Crosses, and An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success. Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
