Anime Talk: Casshern Sins, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Dragon*Con
Anime Talk This is the "Back to School" edition of Anime Talk! This time around we have some reviews for such high profiles releases as Casshern Sins, Fullmetal Alchemist, and One Piece. There are some obscure shows like Shigofumi, Eyeshield 21, and Black Blood Brothers in the mix, as well as a few others. This column also features two figure reviews from the good folks at Kotobukiya. We have figures from To Heart 2 and Bakemonogatari available for dissection and our poorly skilled photographer, Todd, has taken it upon himself to provide some snapshots. Bobby also reports on his visit to Dragon*Con and Wen-Tsai has a slew of bargains that will make your wallet cry uncle. Put away that homework, forget about studying for the test; take a few minutes to read through our column and I'm sure you'll find something that will help separate you from your hard-earned cash. Check out all this and more in this month's Anime Talk!

DVD Savant: A Scanner Darkly, Tiger Shark, and The Player
A Scanner Darkly This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews and articles including: A Scanner Darkly - An all-star cast become semi-animated graphic novel figures in Richard Linklater's intelligent adaptation of Philip K. Dick's paranoid classic about fear and angst among 'recreational' drug users. Reality really breaks down; this makes a better anti-drug case than all the old scare films put together; Tiger Shark - Howard Hawks defines his male bonding, tough-guy romance style with this early talkie starring Edward G. Robinson, Richard Arlen and a glowing Zita Johann; and The Player - Robert Altman bounced back in the 1990s with this smart and extremely connected murder mystery set against a Hollywood backdrop. Tim Robbins heads a talkative cast while Altman fills his frame with over sixty show-biz celebrities -- a bounty of big stars and hot name. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

New DVD Reviews: New York Street Games, Shirin, and Fantomas
New York Street Games Our reviewers have been busy this week, filling the DVD Talk Review Database more great entries. Some new reviews of note include: New York Street Games - A wonderfully nostalgic documentary about a rapidly (and sadly) vanishing element of our shared American culture; Shirin - an art film that left reviewer Jamie S. Rich blown away; and Fantomas: Five Film Collection - with a tinge of surrealism and some very macabre moments these movies about a master criminal are immensely enjoyable. Other recent reviews include: The Exploding Girl, Tapped, and Essential Games of the Seattle Mariners.  Visit the DVD Talk Review Database for all the latest reviews including an entire section devoted to reviews of DVDs out this week.
