TV on DVD: A Little Box of Butters, Community, and Rich Man, Poor Man
South Park: A Little Box of Butters There are some new titles coming out that might make it worth a trip to the video store this week. Check out these recent releases: South Park: A Little Box of Butters - Great stuff from South Park Studios and Comedy Central; Community: The Complete First Season - from its very first episode, the show hit the ground running and never looked back; and Rich Man, Poor Man: The Complete Collection - the original 10-hour miniseries (plus the follow-up) may not have the impact it did 35 years ago, but it's still great viewing. Other shows recently reviewed include:  It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season Five, Boy Meets World: The Complete Third Season, and Charlie & Lola Volume 11.  Want more?  Check out all of the TV on DVD reviews in the DVDTalk database.

DVD Savant: The Maltese Falcon, Crack-Up, and Middletown
The Maltese Falcon This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews and articles including: The Maltese Falcon - The Bogart/Astor/Lorre/Greenstreet classic looks fantastic in HD, and comes with a full roster of Warner Night at the Movies extras; Crack-Up - An oddball RKO noir from 1946: Pat O'Brien, Claire Trevor and Herbert Marshall work their way through a convoluted plot about forged art, madness and murder. This is one of those movies where the hero may be insane, and it always seems to be nighttime; and Middletown - One of the best 'direct cinema' documentaries ever, this multi-part examination of life in Muncie, Indiana is a revealing representation of American culture and an emotional viewing experience. Producer Peter Davis' miniseries includes the notorious final episode about teen life that was refused broadcast -- because of PBS political interference. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

Other new releases of note include:  Mid-August Lunch [DVD review], Hard Candy [Blu-ray review], and Don't Let Me Drown [DVD review] - "a damn fine film."
