DVD Savant: Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Betty Boop, and Farewell to Yesterday
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea This week the DVD Savant has a number of new reviews and articles including: Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea - Walter Pidgeon and Peter Lorre race a futuristic sub across the map to extinguish a fire in the sky that's roasting the world on a spit. Barbara Eden dances and Frankie Avalon provides the gloppy title tune; the sight of the submarine cruising under the flaming sky is wondrous; Betty Boop: The Essential Collection Vol 2 - another collection of the irrepressible Betty's amorous adventures; and Farewell to Yesterday -Something for avid historians and collectors -- a 1950 history of WW2 (and the beginning of the Cold War that followed) culled from original Movietone Newsreels. Read all this and more in this week's DVD Savant.

TV on DVD: Downton Abbey, The Fall, and Midsomer Murders
Downton Abbey: Seasons 1, 2 & 3 TV on DVD remains very popular with more and more favorites being released. New TV reviews include: Downton Abbey: Seasons 1, 2 & 3 - a terrific Blu-ray boxed set of all 25 episodes (uncut) covering the first three seasons, including two Christmas special shows, and some great bonus material; The Fall, Series 1 - a stirring psychological drama that epitomizes what British TV does best: It's suspenseful, gritty, bracingly realistic and thoughtfully produced; and Midsomer Murders: Series 2 - this detective show is ood, clean mayhem, with that distinctive, delightfully perverse British reserve. Other shows recently reviewed include:  CSI: Crime Scene Investigation - The Thirteenth Season, Best of an Evening at the Improv, and Marine Boy: The Complete First Season.  Want more?  Check out all of the TV on DVD reviews in the DVD Talk database.

DVD Talk Interview: Pete Holmes
Pete Holmes The one thing late-night TV needed was another tall comedian on TBS, so Conan O'Brien has called upon podcaster excellente Pete Holmes (You Made it Weird) to bring his brand of thoughtful, positive, yet intensely silly comedy to the airwaves following his own show, in the half-hour The Pete Holmes Show, which kicks off a four-nights-a-week schedule October 28th. DVDTalk's Francis Rizzo III had a chance to sit down with Holmes, his executive producer Nick Bernstein and supervising producer Oren Brimer at the New York ComicCon to talk about how his show will make your life better, why podcasting is like a romantic relationship and what it's like to see a two-story image of himself having sex with the sky. Read about all this and more in the latest DVD Talk Interview.
