New Movie Reviews: Captain Phillips and Escape From Tomorrow
Captain Phillips Planning a trip to the local multiplex this weekend? Here are DVD Talk's reviews of the latest theatrical releases: Captain Phillips [a 2nd review] - based on a true story, you'll be clenching your teeth watching every last frame; and Escape From Tomorrow - Writer/director Randy Moore shot his low-budget, satirical horror film on the sly at Disneyworld without Mickey Mouse's permission, using the real-life location as foundation for a surreal nightmare. The footage he got is remarkable. Once the gimmick wears off however, there's not much else to recommend it. Other recent films include: Gravity, Inequality for All, Prisoners, The World's End, Kick-Ass 2, Elysium, The Wolverine, and I'm So Excited. Check out these, and more, in DVDTalk's Theatrical Review section.

Guilty murderer Richard Carlson suffers from hallucination-visitations from the woman he killed, until he kills again; Night Tide - Sailor Dennis Hopper falls in love with a sideshow mermaid, only to discover that there's some strange kind of curse around the woman; and The Big Combo -Joseph H. Lewis's slick crime noir is a tale of sexual obsession, given an impressive visual dimension by cameraman John Alton. Every other shot looks like a cover from a '50s pulp novel.
