DVD Talk at the 49th Annual New York Film Festival
The 49th annual New York Film Festival begins tonight, and DVD Talk's own Jason Bailey is sampling from the festival's wide slate of exciting new narrative features, documentaries, and Oscar hopefuls. The opening night selection is Roman Polanski's star-studded film adaptation of the Broadway hit Carnage, a dark comedy of manners featuring Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, John C. Reilly, and Christoph Waltz. Also screening in the coming days: Martin Scoresese's masterful two-part documentary on "the quiet Beatle," George Harrison: Living in the Material World; Asghar Farhadi's fascinatingly complex Iranian morality play, A Separation; and Stefano Savona's ground-level view of the Egyptian revolution, Tahrir. You can keep track of Jason's NYFF progress via Twitter, and you can read his festival reviews in our Theatrical Reviews section.

New Movie Reviews: 50/50 and Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil
This week in theaters, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen team for 50/50, a serious-minded comedy about cancer. Read reviews by Jamie S. Rich and Jason Bailey. And a pair of good ol' boys find themselves elbow-deep in blood and gore in the horror/comedy Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil. Read reviews by Jason Bailey and Tyler Foster. Also in theaters: Muckracking British documentarian Nick Broomfield takes on the former Alaska governor in Sarah Palin: You Betcha!, and a controversial imprisonment and interrogation is examined in the documentary You Don't Like the Truth: 4 Days Inside Guantanamo. Be sure to catch reviews of other recent Theatrical Films: Moneyball, Killer Elite, Machine Gun Preacher, Shut Up Little Man! An Audio Misadventure, Puncture, Drive, Straw Dogs, The Lion King 3D, I Don't Know How She Does It, Restless, 3, Stay Cool, and Red State. Read the latest DVDTalk interview to find out what writers Jim Wareck, Brad Weir, director Dave Fraunces, producer/co-star Spencer Garrett, and producer Claudia Myers had to say about the making-of Below the Beltway.
